Letter to Helena Marie Jansz Ling, on the birth of her daughter Valerie Jean, from Florence (Dot) Jansz, Bert's wife.
Dear Maree:
We were so thrilled to hear the good news. Congratulations and the best of everything for you and the baby.
I am so happy you got your little girl. I know how you must feel. Isn't it a reflief to have it all over and to know you
have what you wished for?
I don't know when I will see you but I am going to just as soon as I can.
I hope you get
along all right and the baby too. What are you going to name her? Someone told me Valerie Jean. Is that Correct?
I am feelim better everyday.
I haven't done much yet. Mom won't let me do much so I have been taking it pretty easy. I am anxious to get going again.
I am awfully proud of my daughter. I can't wait to start taking care of her.
On the side of the letter:
(not sure if this is the correct transaltion of the printing on the side of the letter) 'Your mother didn't get to your place much to soon did she?'
Page 2:
She is like a doll (She is speaking of her daughter Mary Ellen). She is quite a good baby.
I have had quite a lot of company since I came home.
I told Bert about your baby last night when he came home. He thought it was swell. Bill came over yesterday afternoon and
told us. He missed on his prediction didn't he? He was laughing about it.
I like the carriage robe very much. Thanks a
lot. It was very sweet of you to go to all the work to make it.
I was going to give this letter to the mail-man but he
got here before I got finished. He gets to our house about 8:30AM now. We get our mail delivered right to the front door now.
Take good care of yourself and the babe.
Jim thought his Easter box was swell. Thanks for remembering him.
I would like to see Dennis. The sweet little punk.
Lots of love - Dot
